This 8″x8″ folding stove caught my attention. It has a brass plate on it from S. Sternau & Co. NY, Sterno Canned Heat Kitchenette No. 4041. and the upper range for it seems to date from 1917/18, but I can’t seem to find an exact date for it. It is in terribly good condition, but I just wanted to stop the rust and polish the name plate a bit.

The Canned Heat designed for this stove, much have had a smaller diameter than what is sold today.  It sits inside of a cutout and what is missing from this stove is the little metal paddle to extinguish the flame.   But I made do with my alcohol stove.  This 100 year old folding stove has found a place in my picnic kit.
